Where all the GOP candidates stand on national protections for life
Dannenfelser @ The Hill: Three mistakes the Republican candidates must avoid on abortion if they want to win
As America watches to see who is best qualified to lead the nation in the Dobbs era and candidates vie to distinguish themselves, here are some of the pitfalls they should avoid…
Polling Update: Americans’ Views on Abortion
Heading into the debate, Iowa-based Selzer & Co. found:
Nearly six in 10 likely GOP caucusgoers agree with Iowa’s heartbeat protections.
By more than a two-to-one margin (54%-24%), caucusgoers are more likely to favor a candidate who supports national protections for unborn children after 15 weeks – a point when they can feel pain.
Morning Consult recently found nearly seven in 10 GOP primary voters (67%) support protections at least by 15 weeks. This is right in line with the American public generally; multiple post-Dobbs polls show that at least seven in 10 Americans support significant limits on abortion.
Kellyanne Conway @ Fox: “Stop hiding and start fighting.”
“Republicans must be peacocks, not ostriches, on abortion, given the recent gains for life, and the unconscionable extremism of the Democrat position to allow abortion anyone anytime anywhere anyhow.”
Kayleigh McEnany: The life issue matters immensely.
